Domotica : The Integrated Domotic System

The new generation house: the systems integration

Through the creation of an integrated domotic system, the house becomes intelligent, not because intelligent systems are installed, but because the intelligent system of which it is equipped is able to control and manage easily the functioning of the systems present.
The everyday life is more and more hectic, there are always more things to do, think, remember and to take care of all the daily chores means to take away precious time from our family and ourselves, the domotic system allows to save time by streamlining the domestic activities in advantage to our social life.
In the past, the domestic automation consisted of applications that carried out specific tasks, regarding the single lighting system, the single air-conditioning or the single automation. Nowadays, an integrated domotic system allows to manage and streamline all the devices in a perspective of a combined use, through the data gathering, the monitoring of the parameters and features and the control of the different systems.
The added value of the integration consists in the possibility to process the information gathered in order to improve the performance of the single systems in terms of energy conservation, comfort, safety as well as the easy-to-use systems.
FOR EXAMPLE you are coming home with some friends, a simple sms informs your house that there will be guests. So the climatisation intervenes, bringing the rooms at the ideal temperature, the garden lights up, the lights of the house turn on, the music starts to play.
INSTEAD IF you are going out, by pressing a single button, the rolling shutters close, the lights and the TV turn off, the alarm switches on, the systems does a check-up and informs you if you have left a window open.
It is morning, and you set up the system to wake you up. The rolling shutters open and your favorite song plays in the background. The bathroom is already at the ideal temperature. The oven is heating your brioche, the coffee is ready.
You go out and leave the windows open because you want to get rid of an unpleasant smell of smoke. You should have been out for half an hour, but something happened and you are late. In the meanwhile it starts to rain. The rain sensor activates the closing of all the windows: the flooding is prevented.
You forget the coffee on the gas range, the coffee comes out and puts out the flame. The gas sensor senses its presence. Automatically the valve closes the gas flow. A sound alarm warns you that there is a problem. All the household appliances and lights that could produce sparkles are deactivated.
The domotic system is installed in the apartment of your elderly mother. In the case she would feel ill the help button, always at hand, would inform you of the illness with an sms, the entrance door would be unlocked to allow the intervention of the rescuers and a horn would be turned on, or any other kind of warning chosen.
These are some examples of the countless applications of domotics, which are not limited to private building, but offer many potentialities to enterprises, public administration and even ships. The intelligent and integrated management of the different systems that are part of an installation is, then, a real investment that will provide an added value to the property and will allow to the user to discover that he planned a building with a soul.
One of the most frequent questions of the customers is: “how much does it cost to plan, install and manage a domotic system”. First of all it is necessary to do a real feasibility study, a get-to-know meeting in order to identify the needs of the customer and propose an ad-hoc system, avoiding the costs of unnecessary systems. Moreover, the investment expenses are counterbalanced by low management costs and significant energy conservation. Until now the lack of a real estimation from the customer of the value associated to domotic solutions caused a hesitant purchase choice. Today and in the future the evidence of the functional and economic benefits will lead the domotics to become more and more affordable.
The choice of this type of system implies an underlying philosophical choice: trust in the new technologies and their potential; the MC IMPIANTI however foresees that, after some years of hesitation, all the systems of a certain level will be built with a significant electronic component, so the domotic control and management will become more natural.
